Well, if she was aware of anything it was probably the chaos surrounder her during these last few weeks of her life. Hopefully she can now rest in peace.
Just announced, Terri Schiavo has died. What a sad, sad journey this has been for all involved. Right or wrong, I really feel for her parents right now. This must be devastating to them after so many years of hope and struggle to keep her alive.

I don't think she was aware of anything at all Greg. The fact she survived this long without any nourishment after the feeding tube was removed is unsettling to me though. It was as if she did still have a spark of life or will to live, trapped in a vegatative state. Just very sad. At least now her long sufferng is over and her parents need to accept this and find peace. Somehow.
Again, I agree with GL.
I still think it would have been better, as long as she was going to die (by starvation) anyway it would have been MUCH better to just give her a lethal injection. It would have spared her parents from watching her die over the last 13 days. JMHO! May she rest in peace.

I hope all of you who appeared to want her dead are happy now.
It has nothing to do with WANTING her dead Sluggo. It was the parents who, understandably, had a hard time letting her go. I think that's a natural reaction of any parent. That being said, what kind of life did Terri have? Really? Does anyone think that lying in a bed for the last 15 years unable to speak, feed or take care of herself, is living????
Exactly who was being served by keeping Terri alive? Certainly not Terri. Can the parents say that they did what was best for Terri of did they do what made them feel good.
Nobody wanted her dead. But given a choice between lying in a bed for 15 years in a vegatative state or death. I choose death every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
I think most rational people would choose death given the same situation.

I know, Jumper. I would not choose to "live" like that but all the people who condemn her parents & call them selfish should be FORCED to walk in their shoes before they pass judgment. JMHO!!!!!!!!
There is evidence the parents lead a rather vindictive media campaign against Michael Shiavo, and possibly misleading the public about Terri's condition.
There seems to be this bias that implies somehow Terri's parents loved Terri more than Terri's husband. That isn't necessarily the case.

Moving in with another woman and fathering 2 children while still married to Terri (after her collapse and hospitalization) and still having control over her fate seems a tad selfish to me. If he wanted to move on with his life he could have divorced her (or perhaps had the marriage annulled given the circumstances) and let her parents care for her. They did for many years before he ever met her....the money issue factors into this as much as "her wishes" I think.

I know she wasnt aware of anything GL.
Truth be told (and this may sound cold hearted but it's really not meant that way) they are all better off now. The parents had 15 years to say goodbye to someone who they loved dearly, but was truthfully beyond hope and wasnt "coming back to them" the husband who has moved on to a new life and family and of course for Terri, who is no longer a burden of sorts on her family or a "freakshow" for those who made this so.
In the end, I think it's better for everyone. She may have been alive, but she wasnt living and how long is too long to hold onto someone in that state?
I think we can cut the husband some slack on this one. How long was Terri in a vegetative state? Fifteen years?Moving in with another woman and fathering 2 children while still married to Terri (after her collapse and hospitalization) and still having control over her fate seems a tad selfish to me.
While I am on the husbands side in this case, it does beg the question why didn't he divorce her? I would hope it was because he was determined to see Terri's wish not to live like a broccoli floret fulfilled. If it was because of some potential monetary settlement payable only to the husband then I might alter my opinion of him.
